About UTPT

What is UTPT?

University of Toronto Peer Tutoring (UTPT) is an academic club run by undergraduate & graduate students advised by Dr. Andy Dicks from the Department of Chemistry. UTPT provides academic support to students in the form of free tutoring sessions with qualified student volunteer tutors. Tutors are rewarded for their contribution with an official letter of recognition signed by a U of T professor. Certificates of achievement are also given to tutors who make a significant tutoring contribution.

How can I get involved?

1) Be a tutee and receive 1 on 1 tutoring with someone who has already taken the course you require help in.
2) Become a tutor, for someone currently taking a course you have already received a credit in. If you are a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student registered at U of T, UTPT would love your help. Qualified tutors will provide one-on-one tutorial sessions with tutees on a regular basis, meeting at least one hour per week for the duration of the semester. Hours spent tutoring will be noted in an official letter of recognition signed by a U of T professor.
3) Lead one of many help sessions for a group of tutees. Help Session tutors will provide tutorial sessions before tests or exams for a group of 4-5 students, usually in first-year courses.
4) Start a study group or contribute a past test to our database accessible to all U of T students.

As a tutor, how will I be credited?

1 on 1 tutors will be credited volunteer hours based on the time they spend tutoring students.

Help session tutors will be credited for the hours they spend tutoring as well as time spent preparing. For a given test, each tutor will receive 3 hours of prep time for the first hour of the help session they conduct. Each subsequent hour for the same help session will be given 1 hour of prep time.
